Where’s the best spot as a spectator to watch the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix? Most of the track is covered by grandstands and viewing areas. F1’s official site suggests Grandstand A near Turn 1 (to see overtaking action) or the “Pelouse” General Admission area near Turn 3 (to witness the power of Formula 1 firsthand).
Where is the best place to stay overnight to watch the race?
The racetrack is located northeast of downtown Barcelona. There are several hotels and vacation rentals within 5 km of the circuit – but these will be in demand close to the time of the Grand Prix.
Many spectators prefer to look closer towards Barcelona city center or surrounding areas for the cultural and nightlife offerings. Consider staying near public transport if you’ll utilize bus or train to get to the race. The Gothic Quarter is popular with visitors and close to tourist sites such as La Rambla, the Picasso Museum, Barcelona Cathedral and the Mercado de La Boqueria. You’ll also be within 1-2 km of visiting Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia, Casa Milà, and Casa Batlló.

Driving: take C-17 to exit Montmeló. Via the AP-7 highway, take exits 13, 14 and 15 (14 and 15 connect to C-17). Bus: Via lines 416, 375 & 370. Train: Rodalies de Catalunya Line R2 (from Barcelona) or R11 (from Girona). Ave High Speed Train: It’s slightly more complicated – see circuit’s link above.
Flying in? Most visitors arrive to Barcelona via Barcelona’s El Prat Airport (BCN) located about 40 km south of the racetrack. Smaller European airlines also service Girona Airport (GRO) which is about 70km northeast of the circuit – making it a viable alternative for some visitors.
